Vision: On an anticipated cool Monday night, I found myself at a familiar bar in Williamsburg. My mission of the night was to support my friend, Raheem, in his first open mic performance. But what I heard on my way out, was much more than I had expected to encounter when I'd arrived.
I heard a woman’s voice through the speakers. Soft, yet full. Deeply dynamic. And just getting started. As my partner and I waded through the crowd, I remember thinking to myself… “we’re not leaving yet, huh”. On stage stood @raestizz, backed by Black instrumentalists on either side, and framed by Black photographers and videographers beside us in the pit. I was moved, energized and inspired to get involved.
